STR Custom Shop TE548, a five-string bass, documented as build #508. TE stands for "Traditional Evolved", a Custom Shop line that reinterprets traditional bass design. A newly developed body shape sets off the pickguard. The familiar passive 2-volume/1-tone layout is retained and a 3-band EQ is arranged in line with it, so the controls stay usable in passive mode. Wood binding rounds the fingerboard and fret edges, with block inlays. This one follows 1970s styling: block inlays, and the bridge pickup set closer to the bridge for a more assertive top end. Two-piece ash body, three-piece maple neck, Madagascar rosewood fingerboard with block inlays, bone nut, Jescar 9662NS frets, lacquered top. Aguilar Hot Jazz 5 pickups with an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. Hipshot B Style bridge, GOTOH GB707 tuners. Nut width 46mm, fingerboard radius 400. Scale length is not stated by the maker; recorded as 34 inches, the scale STR give for every model whose scale they do publish. Neck construction is not stated and is left blank -- STR build both bolt-on and set-neck instruments. Built by Deviser in Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan. No list price is published for this model.
