5-string · Set-neck · single-cut
single cut. STR Custom Shop DSC549, a five-string single-cut bass, documented as build #484. DSC denotes STR's set-neck single-cutaway shape: the bass side of the body joins the neck over a long glued area, which STR say cuts excess overtones for a thick, authoritative low end while keeping access to the high frets. Stabilized Wood is impregnated with resin through the body of the timber, so unlike a surface finish the colour penetrates the wood and combines with the grain. Stabilized Wood top on a one-piece ash back, three-piece flame maple neck, ebony fingerboard, bone nut, lacquered top. STR JJ-5 pickups with an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. Hipshot Style A bridge and Ultralite tuners. Marked by STR as a one-off (限定1本) -- one of the Deviser special instruments built for the 2018 Musical Instrument Fair. The woods listed are this particular build's. Built by Deviser in Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan. No list price is published for this model.
