STR Custom Shop TE449, a four-string bass, documented as build #509. TE stands for "Traditional Evolved", a Custom Shop line that reinterprets traditional bass design. A newly developed body shape sets off the pickguard. The familiar passive 2-volume/1-tone layout is retained and a 3-band EQ is arranged in line with it, so the controls stay usable in passive mode. Wood binding rounds the fingerboard and fret edges, with block inlays. Two-piece alder body, three-piece maple neck, Madagascar rosewood fingerboard with block inlays, bone nut, Jescar 9662NS frets, lacquered top. Aguilar Hot Jazz pickups with an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp. Hipshot B Style bridge, GOTOH GB707 tuners. Nut width 38mm, fingerboard radius 310. Scale length is not stated by the maker; recorded as 34 inches, the scale STR give for every model whose scale they do publish. Neck construction is not stated and is left blank -- STR build both bolt-on and set-neck instruments. Built by Deviser in Matsumoto, Nagano, Japan. No list price is published for this model.
