A Birdsong with a full-scale-like wider neck and string spacing - a P-width nut and full 19 mm bridge spacing (other Birdsongs are 17.5 mm) - on the C-5 body, with a single high-output humbucking soapbar in a harmonically rich position. Black walnut body standard. Hand-built in Seguin, Texas by Birdsong Guitars (head luthier Jake Goede; the Cortobass, designed by Scott Beckwith, launched the company in 2004). Proprietary 31" short scale that still takes standard-length strings, 24 frets with a zero fret, 3-piece maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, 2-way truss rod. Walnut, mahogany or poplar body, righty or left-handed, fretted or lined/unlined fretless, 17.5 mm bridge spacing. Quality hardware (Hipshot, Gotoh, CTS, Switchcraft), copper-shielded and star-grounded, passive electronics. Ergonomic small-body short-scale design for perfect balance and less reach.
