4-string · Bolt-on (single screw to steel body)
A radically minimalist short-scale bass from Verso Instruments (Kassel, Germany). Built around a powder-coated steel body (RAL colours - white, shell pink, signal black, vermillion) with a matching native-wood veneer, neck and fingerboard (ash, maple, walnut, cherry, pear, apple, plum or oak). A single freely movable, interchangeable pickup slides along the body so one pickup covers neck, middle, bridge and everything in between; a single passive low-pass tone control on the back and a mono output keep it simple. Solid brass bridge, jumbo frets with rounded ends, a reversed 5-degree headstock with Schaller M4 Bass tuners and a bone (or Tusq/vegan) nut with a steel dowel. The shorter scale gives a punchy, characterful voice. Bolt-on neck (single screw).
