one thousand basses is a search engine built for one thing: helping you find the right bass. Picking a bass often comes down to "this or that." 4 string or 5 string, fretted or fretless, solid or hollow, short scale or full scale, P or J, etc.

But whether it's your first bass or your next bass, there are thousands of options to choose from (hence the name of the site). one thousand basses helps you narrow it down.

What's in the database

There are nearly 2,000 instruments across hundreds of brands, from new to vintage to boutique. New models, players, and reviews are added regularly.

Brand agnostic

This is a personal project. It's just me and my bass nerdiness. Some "where to buy" links may become affiliate links in the future, and the site will indicate if that ever happens.

I know some builders (small and big) are not represented on the site… yet. I'm working on it. Not all luthiers publish specs and prices on their sites.
